Mum's The Word was an early London Garage event held at the Frog and Nightgown on Old Kent Road, South London.
Music journalist Dave Jenkins places the event within London's Sunday morning after hours scene as early as 1992, when clubbers leaving Ministry of Sound continued their weekends at nearby venues.
Alongside events such as Happy Days at the Elephant & Castle, Mum's The Word formed part of the underground club culture in which DJs began developing a faster, bass heavier British interpretation of American house and Garage music.
Surviving recordings attributed to the event from 1994 and 1995 provide further evidence of its musical history.
The event represents an important part of UK Garage's formative period, before the genre's mainstream breakthrough in the late 1990s.
